The TD020DSEW weighs just 1.1 pounds with a more compact design at only 10-7/8 inches long (extended) and 8-3/8 inches long (pistol), with an ergonomic shape that fits like a glove for reduced operator fatigue. The most powerful in-line screwdriver to date! Why? Well, two reasons: it sports the extended run time, high energy output Lithium-Ion batteries, and it's also an impact driver. It may seem unbelievable to have an impact driver so small, but it’s true. An impact driver hammers the chuck laterally to give increased torque to drilling and driving operations, as opposed to just relying on the motor to spin the chuck. This powerhouse provides 12-volt power, with Lithium-Ion and impact energy, in only 7.2 volts. This sweet little tool offers twice the torque of other 7.2 volt in-line screw drivers and any other in its class. Most in-line screw drivers are only 3.6 volts. This new Makita tool offers twice the voltage, twice the power and twice the run time of standard models.
Other great features include a comfortable rubber grip, an easy to reach thumb on/off switch and the easiest to use, all-metal, quick-change, hex, Insty bit chuck. The chuck only accepts drill bits and driver bits that have a hex shank at the opposite end of, for example, a no. 2 Phillips driver bit. This really speeds up bit changes. Hex Insty bits have really become the standard and are offered in every drill bit kit available. There is an accessory Makita chuck that converts the quick-change hex bit chuck into the older style 3-jaw chuck that will accept round shank drill bits, so you can use your existing bits.
What I like most about this tool is it bends nearly 90 degrees for controlled driving. Driving in-line is great for fast, light-duty driving. For example, electricians use these tools for installing wall plates over outlets and switches. Driving at a right angle is used for driving longer screws and driving/drilling where more controlled accuracy is needed. Hitachi’s DS18DFL 18-volt lithium ion rill kit features a 1.5Ah lithium ion battery that can be charged and recharged up to 1,500 times. This battery makes the overall weight of the drill significantly lighter than other models (over 40 percent), and it's uniquely interchangeable with other Hitachi drills for even more flexibility and value.
The two-piece magnet motor delivers 374 in/lbs of torque to power through even the toughest jobs with ease. The DS18DFL comes with two 1.5Ah batteries that last approximately three times longer than NiMH or NiCd batteries, meaning you don’t have to replace the batteries as often -- which will save you money. The 2-speed transmission is controlled by a one-touch speed shift knob that lets you select between 0-400 or 0-1,200 RPMs. The DS18DFL is one of the most compact and lightweight cordless drills in its class, measuring just over 8-1/2 inches and weighing only 3.7 pounds. The new battery technology reduces the weight by approximately a pound, which lessens user fatigue and improves maneuverability in tight or overhead applications.

Powerful Enough to Tackle a Wide Range of Applications
Though small, the DB10DL is able to generate enough power to handle a wide range of applications. The DB10DL's powerful motor boasts a maximum of 88 in./lbs. of torque, so it will make easy work of most light-duty jobs, such as cabinetry work, drilling and fastening.
The variable-speed trigger allows for precise control over the speed of the drill--between 0 and 400 RPM--and the best-in-class 21+1 stage clutch lets you dial in the perfect amount of torque for the job.
Specially Designed Chuck for Ease of Use
For ease of use, the DB10DL features an LED ring that surrounds the 1/4-inch quick-change chuck and illuminates the work surface, making it easy to use the drill driver in darker work areas. The chuck requires no tools for bit changes--simply pull out, insert the bit, and release the chuck.
HXP Batteries Last Three Times Longer and Weigh 50% Less
The DB10DL owes its light weight to two HXP Lithium-Ion batteries (included). These 1.5-Ah batteries weigh half of what traditional NiCd or NiMH batteries weigh. In fact, tools featuring HXP batteries are on average one pound lighter than tools using traditional batteries.
Additionally, HXP batteries last three times longer than their competition. Where NiCd and NiMH batteries could be used for up to 500 charge cycles, HXP Lithium-Ion batteries can be used for up to 1,500 charge cycles! An added bonus, the included quick charger replenishes the battery power in just 40 minutes, so you have less down time.
HXP Lithium-Ion batteries operate within optimal voltage limits, protecting both the tool and batteries from damage. Protection circuitry built into the batteries and charger monitors the charge and discharge for each battery cell, resulting in peak operating performance.
And if a surge in power is detected during use, Hitachi's Over-Current Protection technology will temporarily shut of the power to protect the batteries and tool from being damaged. This feature allows the power to return to optimal voltage, thereby extending battery and tool life beyond any competitive lithium-ion products.
